A butterfly valve controls flow via a rotating disc that meets the circumferential valve seat. To achieve zero-leakage performance, the contact area must balance seal tight force against operating torque. Excessive force wears the seat down, leading to premature valve failure. What is the primary difference in application between EPDM and PTFE valve seats?
EPDM is a highly resilient elastomer, offering lower torque values and excellent recovery characteristics, making it suitable for municipal water, HVAC, and low-concentration slurry systems up to 135°C. PTFE is a fluoropolymer with broad chemical resistance (pH 0-14), making it suitable for strong acids, industrial chemicals, and pharmaceutical processes, though it requires higher seating torque due to its rigidity.
How do double eccentric and triple eccentric designs prolong seat service life?
In standard concentric valves, the disc continuously rubs against the seat during the 90-degree opening/closing stroke, leading to wear. A double eccentric design offsets the shaft, allowing the disc to lift off the seat within a few degrees of rotation. A triple eccentric design introduces a third conical axis offset, which eliminates seat friction entirely during travel, achieving a seal contact only at the point of final closure. This extends the seat's operating life.
What pressure ratings are supported for custom resilient butterfly valves?
We manufacture custom resilient seated butterfly valves for pressure levels including PN6, PN10, PN16, and Class 150 systems. For high-pressure isolation networks (such as gate sluice applications), we supply valves supporting up to PN64 and higher using metal-to-metal seating profiles.
Why are split-body designs preferred for full PTFE-lined concentric valves?
PTFE is stiff and cannot be easily stretched over a single-piece cast body. A split-body (two-piece) design allows the body halves to be bolted together around the pre-molded PTFE liner and the disc-stem assembly, ensuring clean compression, alignment, and simple liner replacement during maintenance.

We provide drawing validation, customized face-to-face dimensions (meeting ISO 5752, API 609, and EN 558), and customized actuator mounting flanges (ISO 5211).
