What is the difference between CF8 and CF8M wafer check valves?
CF8 and CF8M are cast stainless steel grades. CF8 is the equivalent of AISI 304, containing ~18% Cr and ~8% Ni, suitable for general clean water and organic chemical processes. CF8M is the equivalent of AISI 316 and includes 2-3% Molybdenum. This addition provides significantly higher resistance to chloride pitting, making CF8M preferred for marine, desalination, and acid-heavy industrial chemical loops.
What testing standards do your CF8 check valves undergo?
All our check valves are subjected to hydrostatic and pneumatic testing in strict compliance with API 598 (Valve Inspection and Testing) and ISO 5208 standards. This includes shell pressure tests and seat leakage tests. We guarantee Zero Leakage for soft-seated models, while metal-seated valves are tested to API 598 specifications.
Can wafer check valves be installed in vertical pipelines?
Yes, wafer check valves can be installed vertically, provided the flow direction is upward. In upward vertical flow, gravity helps return the disk to the closed seat position when the pump stops. We do not recommend vertical installation for downward flow, as gravity would prevent the valve disc from closing properly, causing massive backflow.

Wafer check valves are designed without heavy flanges, meaning they occupy minimal face-to-face space and are up to 80% lighter than standard swing check valves.
